During his working visit to the United States, the Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, Igor Grosu, traveled to Chicago, home to one of the largest Moldovan communities in the U.S., TRIBUNA reports.
The Speaker noted that Moldovans settled in Chicago form a united, energetic community, with many young entrepreneurs living their own “American dream” with passion and success. “I was glad to see how, in just a few years, they managed to build businesses, start families, and proudly carry forward the name of the Republic of Moldova. They are the best ambassadors of our country,” emphasized Igor Grosu.
Thanks to the involvement of the diaspora in Chicago, the authorities managed to open a consulate in the area, allowing Moldovan citizens to access consular services more quickly. In discussions with community members, Grosu spoke about the political situation in Moldova, the country’s efforts toward European integration, and investment opportunities. He also listened to their concerns, ideas, and plans, stressing: “We want to remain close to them and support them as much as we can.”
While in Chicago, the Speaker visited several businesses developed by Moldovans. Entrepreneurs have chosen diverse fields – transport, hospitality – and are enjoying success in each.
He also referred to measures approved by the Government to stimulate investment, many of which were suggested by the Moldovan business community in the U.S. “We invite you to continue and invest back home. You are warmly awaited in the Republic of Moldova, and we will remain close to your initiatives,” reiterated Igor Grosu.
