The leaders of the Patriotic Bloc pledged to defend their colleagues and urged citizens to vote against the PAS dictatorship

Today, the leaders of the Patriotic Electoral Bloc of Socialists, Communists, Heart and Future of Moldova held a press conference under the theme: “PAS regime’s pressure to silence the opposition”. Igor Dodon, Vasile Tarlev, and Constantin Starîș condemned what they described as unjustified pressure exerted by the PAS regime against the “Heart of Moldova” party and its leader, Irina Vlah. They expressed their readiness to defend the legal rights of their colleagues in the Patriotic Bloc and urged citizens not to fear a government “in agony,” but to turn out in large numbers on September 28 to say “no” to PAS’s alleged dictatorship, reports TRIBUNA.

Igor Dodon, President of the Socialist Party, emphasized that the government’s behavior in the final days of the campaign shows one thing: PAS has already lost the September 28 elections.

“Maia Sandu and her Soros-backed government are trying to intimidate citizens. Hundreds of daily searches and attacks on our colleagues in the regions reveal PAS’s fear of the election outcome. They know they will lose. Now they’re even targeting our bloc partners,” stated Dodon.

He reminded that four parties united under the Patriotic Bloc in response to citizens’ demands, overcoming difficult stages of left-wing consolidation. “Desperate attempts to divide the bloc will not succeed. We stand in solidarity with our colleagues from Heart of Moldova, who are facing political persecution. Today, PSRM members were also detained in the north of the country,” Dodon added.

The Socialist leader declared that Moldova will enter a new phase in just a few days—without PAS in power. “Over the past three weeks, we’ve held thousands of meetings with citizens and are confident that the opposition will form a stable majority in the next Parliament.”

Addressing Maia Sandu directly, Dodon stated that fear of public opinion will not save her: “With the departure of the current Parliament, Maia Sandu will go too—she is Soros’s servant.” He added that the PAS government is in agony and called on law enforcement structures to serve the country, not “the criminal PAS group.”

Igor Dodon urged Moldovan citizens to show political maturity and courage by voting en masse. “There’s a wise saying: when power fears the people—that’s democracy. When people fear power—that’s dictatorship. Right now, Moldova is under a dictatorship. I call on everyone not to be afraid, to vote, and to show they are citizens of the Republic of Moldova.”

Vasile Tarlev, President of the Future of Moldova Party, expressed deep disappointment with the conduct of the electoral campaign. According to him, in a country aspiring to join the EU, elections must be transparent, fair, and ensure equal rights for all citizens. “In reality, we are witnessing a militarized dictatorship, with political persecution, blackmail, fines, and arrests. This is unacceptable,” Tarlev stated.

Constantin Starîș expressed “solidarity and support for our colleagues from Heart of Moldova and its leader, Irina Vlah, who are facing harsh and unjustified persecution.” He emphasized that “paranoia and chaotic repression always mark the end of any dictator.”
