Another attempt to schedule the elections for the position of Bashkan of Gagauzia for November 15, 2026, has failed, reports TRIBUNA.

Today’s meeting of the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia did not take place due to a lack of quorum.

The first attempt to set the election date took place on August 26, when the Assembly likewise failed to reach the required quorum.

We remind you that the position of Bashkan was declared vacant on August 17, 2026, after Evghenia Guțul, who had been inaugurated as Bashkan of Gagauzia on July 19, 2023, was sentenced on August 5, 2025, to seven years in prison in the case concerning the illegal financing of the former “Șor” party. The sentence was handed down by the Chișinău Court, Buiucani District. Recently, the Court of Appeal upheld the ruling, making it enforceable.
