TRIBUNA continues its project in which we present political events that took place exactly one year ago. This time, we invite you to recall what happened on September 1, 2025.

Irina Vlah’s briefing

Irina Vlah, leader of the Republican Party “Heart of Moldova,” spoke at a briefing about the intensification of attacks against the party, as well as PAS attempts to remove it from the electoral race.

“Alternative” Bloc conference

The electoral “Alternative” Bloc sent a message of support to pupils, students, teachers and parents, reaffirming its commitments to developing Moldova’s education system. During a press conference, Angela Cutasevici, a candidate for Parliament, presented the electoral bloc’s commitments in the field of education.

MRM activities

Radu Burduja, vice-president of the Respect Moldova Movement responsible for foreign relations, security and defence, together with Iulia Costin, vice-president for economic affairs, held a meeting with representatives of the European Network of Election Monitoring Organizations (ENEMO), Mariam Chubabria and Daniel Kerekes. On the same day, the Movement announced that Ludmila Karadag, a civic activist from Ceadîr-Lunga and founder of the women’s football club “Colibri,” had joined the party.

Prime Minister’s meetings in Japan

Prime Minister Dorin Recean, during his visit to Japan, met with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba. The officials discussed opportunities to develop bilateral partnership and investment, as well as the implementation of new projects for the benefit of the people. The Prime Minister also met with members of the Japan–Moldova Parliamentary Friendship Group in the National Diet, discussing ways to intensify bilateral political dialogue, including through the organization of a joint meeting.

Launch of the “Moldovans” Alliance

The “Moldovans” Alliance officially launched its electoral campaign for the parliamentary elections at Viorica-Cosmetic, which was chosen as an example of the successful revival of national industry. With the launch of the electoral campaign, the “Moldovans” Alliance began presenting 26 draft laws that were intended to form the basis for economic and social revival. The first draft law concerned reforming the National Bank of Moldova and liberalizing access to financing for businesses and families.

CEC meeting

At its meeting, the Central Electoral Commission amended its decision concerning the application to register candidates for Parliament from the National Moldovan Party for the parliamentary elections, which had requested changes to its list of candidates. The CEC also confirmed the representative of the European Social Democratic Party on the Central Electoral Commission for the parliamentary elections. In addition, the CEC reminded citizens that three days remained for declaring their place of residence.

Number of voters

The CEC announced that the number of voters registered in the State Register of Voters stood at 3,299,396. Of the total number of voters registered in the State Register of Voters (3,299,396), 2,763,678 citizens with voting rights were assigned to second-level administrative-territorial units.

CEC leadership meeting with ENEMO representatives

The leadership of the Central Electoral Commission met with members of the international election observation mission of the European Network of Election Monitoring Organizations (ENEMO), who officially began their activities in Moldova in connection with the parliamentary elections scheduled for September 28, 2025.

AUR initiative

The Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) in Moldova announced that, following up on its political initiative of August 27, 2025 — the submission of an Open Letter to the Delegation of the European Union to Moldova and to the embassies of the United States and the Russian Federation in Chisinau — it had officially sent an information note to the main Romanian state authorities. In its initiative, AUR called for the recognition and support of the Romanian people’s right to national unity.

Vasile Tarlev’s visits

Vasile Tarlev and Sergiu Butuc, candidates for Parliament from the Patriotic Electoral Bloc of Socialists, Communists, Heart and Future of Moldova, visited Cantemir District as part of the electoral campaign. Vasile Tarlev also held a meeting with residents of the capital and attended a ceremony marking the beginning of the new school year at the Grimăncăuți Theoretical Lyceum in Briceni District.

PSDE announcement

Grigore Lîsîi, interim chairman of the Dignity and Truth Platform in Fălești District, together with 10 district and local councillors and all primary territorial structures of the DA Platform in the district, joined the European Social Democratic Party (PSDE), which announced the move. Former Platform chairman Dinu Plîngău said that the party did not have an organization in Fălești.

Maia Sandu’s meeting with Christophe Hansen

President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu met with European Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Christophe Hansen. The discussions focused on European Union support for Moldovan producers and access for agricultural products to the EU market.

Messages of congratulations

Renato Usatîi, chairman of Our Party, together with his daughter Alexandra; Andrei Năstase, an independent parliamentary candidate, together with his daughter Anna-Elizabeth; and Igor Dodon, leader of the Socialists, together with his son Nicușor, sent messages of congratulations on the occasion of the beginning of the new school year. Messages marking the start of the school year were also sent by Republican Party “Heart of Moldova” leader Irina Vlah, AUR chairman Boris Volosatîi, and the European Social Democratic Party.

PLDM statement

The Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM), in a statement, drew public attention to the fact that the appeal filed by the Central Electoral Commission with the Supreme Court of Justice did not comply with the requirements set out in the Administrative Code and did not contain solid arguments justifying the annulment of the decision of the Chișinău Court of Appeal of August 28, 2025.

Presentation of the new head of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office

A ceremony was held at the headquarters of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office to introduce its new chief prosecutor, Marcel Dumbravan, who was presented by Prosecutor General Alexandru Machidon. The event was attended by Dumitru Obadă, chairman of the Superior Council of Prosecutors, as well as members of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.

Campaign launches

The Christian-Social Union of Moldova launched its electoral campaign for the parliamentary elections. The party’s chairman, Gabriel Călin, posted a video in which he declared his readiness to fight for the interests of the people. The League of Cities and Communes officially launched its electoral campaign through a Facebook post. The party presented its commitments, electoral programme and list of candidates.
