The European Social Democratic Party (PSDE) is calling on the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) to nominate Igor Grosu for the position of Prime Minister, TRIBUNA reports.
According to PSDE, European democracies follow a clear and natural rule: the political force that receives citizens’ votes assumes responsibility for governing. The leader of the party holding a parliamentary majority typically becomes Prime Minister — especially during a political crisis. This ensures political accountability and allows voters to hold directly responsible the person who made electoral promises and guaranteed better times for citizens.
“In the Republic of Moldova, PAS has created a harmful precedent by handing the office of Prime Minister to individuals who ultimately become scapegoats. This continuous rotation of government heads, who leave without answering for failures, must stop!”
PSDE argues that Igor Grosu, as PAS leader, must personally assume responsibility: “Mr. Igor Grosu, it is time to step out of the comfort zone of Parliament. If the party you lead holds the parliamentary majority, you are now obliged to take responsibility before the citizens — not just remain the ‘nice guy’ at the Parliament microphone.”
