The Secretary General and acting president of the European Social Democratic Party (PSDE), Iurie Cazacu, is taking part in the Post‑Election Analysis Conference for the 28 September 2025 parliamentary elections, held on 19–20 February, TRIBUNA reports.
Cazacu emphasized that safeguarding the integrity of elections requires not only stricter rules, but also the protection of fundamental freedoms and sustained investment in citizens.
“People’s voices must be heard and translated into public policies. Strengthening democracy means strong institutions, fair processes, and informed, engaged citizens. Electoral integrity begins with the social protection of the citizen and the genuine independence of state institutions,” he stated.
PSDE warns that vulnerability to external interference and voter corruption is directly linked to living standards: “A resilient democracy is built not only through legislation, but through solid social policies that shield citizens from economic pressure and manipulation.”
Cazacu also underlined that PSDE advocates for genuine political neutrality of state institutions, which must act impartially and professionally, without being used as instruments of political pressure.
The Post‑Election Analysis Conference serves as a transparent platform for dialogue and evaluation of the electoral process, in line with international standards of electoral democracy and the commitments assumed by the Republic of Moldova in its European integration process. The event gathered over 150 participants — representatives of public authorities, political parties, civil society, national and international observers, and development partners. The broad discussion enabled an objective assessment of the main challenges of the 2025 parliamentary elections, including external interference, the vulnerabilities of a fragile democracy, the resilience of state institutions, and the lessons learned from this electoral exercise.
