TRIBUNA continues its project presenting political events that took place exactly one year ago. This time, we invite you to recall what happened on September 3, 2025.

PNM complaints

The National Moldovan Party (PNM) filed two complaints with the Central Electoral Commission against the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS). The first concerned PAS candidate Dinu Plîngău, former leader of Platform DA, with whom, according to PNM, a disguised electoral bloc was being created, prohibited by the Electoral Code. The second complaint concerned the alleged improper use of the name and image of President Maia Sandu in PAS’s campaign.

Interior Minister confirms

Interior Minister Daniella Misail-Nichitin confirmed that former MP Constantin Țuțu, who had been placed in pre-trial detention in Greece’s largest prison on July 22, had a ticket to Moldova for September 4.

Ion Ceban’s announcement

Chișinău Mayor Ion Ceban suspended his mayoral duties in order to focus on activities related to the electoral campaign. He made the announcement at a press conference.

Vladimir Andronachi detained

The Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office announced that former MP Vladimir Andronachi was detained for 72 hours on the evening of September 2, 2025. He was targeted in a criminal case concerning money laundering on a particularly large scale.

Accusations against PAS

The Republican Party “Heart of Moldova”, in a statement, warned the public, observers and the diplomatic corps accredited in Chișinău that it had become the target of a “dirty scenario” allegedly orchestrated by PAS with the aim of removing the party from the electoral race.

Possible airspace violation

On the night of September 2–3, 2025, the Border Police were informed by Ukrainian authorities about the possible flight of a Russian Shahed-type drone through Moldova’s airspace in the northern part of the country. According to Ukrainian border guards, the drone was detected near Horodiște, Dondușeni district, and disappeared between Cupcini and Edineț. The Ministry of Defense did not confirm that Moldovan airspace had been violated.

ASP urges voters to check documents

To ensure citizens could exercise their right to vote in the parliamentary elections, the Public Services Agency (ASP) urged all Moldovan citizens to check the validity of their identity documents and, if necessary, replace them before election day.

Igor Dodon’s activities

PSRM leader Igor Dodon attended a religious service at Căpriana Monastery. He also congratulated active-duty and reserve military personnel and veterans on National Army Day and held an electoral meeting with employees of the Vasconi factory.

BEP flash mob

Representatives of the Patriotic Electoral Bloc (BEP) held a flash mob outside the Ministry of Defense on the occasion of National Army Day. Speakers congratulated all active and reserve military personnel, wishing them peace and prosperity. They also stressed the importance of keeping the National Army out of political games and maintaining its non-political character.

Accusations against PAS

Alexandr Berlinschii, former secretary of the Central Electoral Commission and a representative of Our Party, accused PAS of applying double standards. He said PAS was accusing Our Party candidate Mihail Dobrovolschi, deputy chairman of Glodeni District, of violating electoral legislation, while allegedly violating the law itself regarding the procedure for suspending four district presidents included on PAS’s parliamentary candidate list.

Ion Ceban’s press conference

Following his visit to Rome, Ion Ceban, one of the leaders of the “Alternative” electoral bloc, reacted at a press conference to attacks and speculation circulating publicly. He said Italian authorities had confirmed that there was no real reason for the ban imposed on him from entering the Schengen Area, which, in his view, demonstrated the political nature of the decision. Ceban also reiterated the bloc’s commitment to pursuing its own agenda, independent of the interests of other political parties in Moldova.

Gaik Vartanean’s reaction

Gaik Vartanean, a parliamentary candidate from the “Alternative” electoral bloc, denied involvement in a campaign to promote fake news through parliamentary email.

Agricultural proposals

The “Moldovans” Alliance presented a draft law proposing a clear mechanism for modernizing irrigation infrastructure and, consequently, reviving agriculture.

CEC decisions

The Central Electoral Commission amended its decisions concerning the registration of parliamentary candidates from “Our Party” and the AUR political party, following requests to modify their candidate lists. The Commission also amended the schedule for certification/specialization in the electoral field for the 2025 session and accredited national observers.

“New Historical Option” party registered

At its meeting, the Central Electoral Commission registered a list of 55 parliamentary candidates from the “New Historical Option” political party. The CEC decision followed the implementation of a ruling by the Chișinău Court of Appeal and an order of the Supreme Court of Justice requiring the Commission to reconsider the party’s application for registration as an electoral contestant.

Maia Sandu at Bookfest

President Maia Sandu attended the official opening of Bookfest Chișinău 2025, the International Book Fair, which reached its eighth edition. The head of state said Bookfest had already become a tradition in Chișinău, describing it as a project that showed “how powerful culture is when it brings us together.”

Final simulation session

The Ministry of Finance hosted the final simulation session for presentations related to Chapter 33, “Financial and Budgetary Provisions,” managed by the Ministry of Finance. The chapter was expected to conclude the bilateral screening sessions with the European Commission. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov.

34 years since the creation of the National Army

President Maia Sandu attended a ceremony marking the 34th anniversary of the creation of the National Army. During the ceremony, the president awarded nine state distinctions to military personnel and civilian employees of the Ministry of Defense. Other officials and politicians also conveyed congratulatory messages to the National Army.

Government decision

The Cabinet approved the National Programme for Digitalization and Innovation in Healthcare for 2025–2030. The document provided for the continuation of the modernization of the healthcare system.

UJM meets BEP

Members of the Observation Mission of the Union of Jurists of Moldova (UJM) met with representatives of the Patriotic Electoral Bloc — Vlad Batrîncea, Olga Cebotari and Nicolae Fomov. The sides exchanged views on the conduct of the electoral process.

BEP round table

A round table entitled “Parliament of the Republic of Moldova 2021–2025: Results and Lessons for the Future” was held in Chișinău. The event was organized by the Patriotic Bloc of Socialists, Communists, Heart and Future of Moldova (BEP).

Meeting in Nisporeni

Renato Usatîi, chairman of Our Party, held a meeting with citizens in Nisporeni, discussing the parliamentary elections, existing problems and possible solutions.

IGP campaign

In the context of the electoral campaign held from August 28 to September 28, 2025, the General Inspectorate of Police (IGP) launched the national information and civic responsibility campaign “Don’t Play with Your Vote”. Its aim was to prevent voter bribery and strengthen citizens’ confidence in free and fair voting.

PLDM statement

The Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM), in a statement, condemned the manner in which the Supreme Court of Justice examined and rejected the party’s appeal while simultaneously admitting the appeal filed by the Central Electoral Commission.

CEC meets PACE delegation

Members of the Central Electoral Commission met with a delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), which was on a pre-election mission to Moldova ahead of the September 28, 2025 parliamentary elections. The PACE delegation was briefed on measures taken by the CEC to ensure the proper organization and conduct of the elections.

Andrei Năstase in Soroca

Independent parliamentary candidate Andrei Năstase visited Soroca, where he discussed problems and possible solutions with local residents.

Veronica Dragalin starts new job

Former head of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office Veronica Dragalin began working at a new position in the United States. She returned to the law firm where she had previously worked, Jones Day, taking a partnership position at its Washington office.

Tatiana Crețu’s announcement

Independent parliamentary candidate Tatiana Crețu said in a video address that she had decided to enter politics in order to bring people closer to political processes.
