The Government reports that, following the adverse weather conditions, the responsible authorities intervened promptly and remain fully mobilized, acting in a coordinated manner to clear the roads and ensure public safety.
According to the State Hydrometeorological Service, due to precipitation—mainly rain—and temperatures below 0°C, a risk of light ice persists across large areas. Dense fog, sleet, and road icing are reported throughout the country.
National and local roads have been treated with anti-skid materials. As of this hour, 145 road maintenance vehicles of the National Road Administration (AND) and 372 workers have intervened nationwide. Over 1,460 tonnes of technical salt and approximately 196 tonnes of anti-skid material have been spread.
Traffic is currently flowing smoothly, with no blockages on national or local roads. AND, contracted road services, and the municipal enterprise Exdrupo in Chișinău continue spreading anti-skid materials in areas where night‑time intervention was not possible.
Chișinău International Airport is operating normally. Runways are cleared, and aircraft are landing and taking off without impediments.
In the energy sector, on the morning of 28 January, more than 15,000 consumers in around 100 localities remain disconnected from the electricity grid. Of these, 3,811 consumers in 11 localities fall under the responsibility of Premier Energy Distribution, and 11,383 consumers are in the RED‑Nord service area. Distribution operators continue working to repair the outages.
In the last 24 hours, the Emergency Medical Service received 2,607 calls, including 401 involving children.
Between 27.01.2026, 06:00 and 28.01.2026, 05:30, the following weather‑related calls were registered:
- 112 Service — 176 calls
- General Police Inspectorate — 131 calls
- General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations — 21 calls
- National Road Administration — 102 calls
Between 27.01.2026, 08:00 and 28.01.2026, 08:00, the Ministry of Internal Affairs deployed:
129 Carabinieri officers with 19 vehicles,
327 IGSU employees with 89 special vehicles,
1,337 Police officers with 392 patrol units.
In total, 1,793 personnel and 500 vehicles were mobilized.
Carabinieri assisted citizens in 87 cases with movement on sidewalks and street crossings (mainly in Chișinău, but also in Căușeni, Orhei, and Ungheni), and provided support in 10 cases involving transport vehicles.
In the last 24 hours, IGSU personnel carried out 92 missions, including unblocking and towing stranded vehicles, assisting medical teams in reaching patients (18 cases), and removing fallen trees in the Șoldănești and Soroca districts. No casualties were reported.
The National Army activated its forces and equipment designated for natural emergency interventions. At the request of local authorities, two army teams intervened in the Dubăsari district, and three teams provided support in Strășeni by spreading anti‑skid materials. Three additional teams are currently deployed in the field.
Rescuers and firefighters continue to operate 24/7 across the country. Citizens are urged to exercise caution, follow meteorological warnings, and call 112 in risky situations. Road users are advised to drive carefully, adjust speed to road conditions, maintain safe distance, and ensure vehicles are properly equipped for winter conditions.
