Appeal to PACE

Irina Vlah, President of the Republican Party “Heart of Moldova,” part of the Electoral Bloc of Socialists, Communists, Heart of Moldova and Moldova’s Future (BEP), addressed members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) election observation mission in Moldova. She said the government was committing serious anti-democratic violations aimed at abusively removing the Republican Party “Heart of Moldova,” which was part of the BEP, from the electoral race.

Memorandum enters into force

The Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Government of the United Arab Emirates on the mutual abolition of visa requirements entered into force. Under the memorandum, Moldovan citizens could travel to the UAE without a visa for up to 90 calendar days within a 180-day period.

Irina Vlah’s briefing

Irina Vlah, President of the Republican Party “Heart of Moldova,” said that all actions taken against her team in recent days were politically motivated. At a press briefing, she said the government was making desperate attempts to silence them through searches, the initiation of criminal cases, the publication of intercepted conversations unrelated to the party, and the deliberate misleading of public opinion.

Metropolitan Vladimir’s appeal

In the context of the parliamentary elections, Metropolitan Vladimir issued an appeal to the entire Orthodox Church of Moldova. He called on clergy not to become involved in political processes and to encourage parishioners to exercise their right to vote freely and consciously, understanding that they were contributing to the country’s future.

Activities of the “Alternativa” Bloc

Leaders of the “Alternativa” electoral bloc met with residents of Chișinău’s Ciocana sector, presenting the bloc’s vision and solutions ahead of the parliamentary elections. On the same day, Ion Chicu, one of the bloc’s leaders, held a press conference in Ungheni, where he presented data on the increase in public debt and its effects on the economy and citizens. The bloc also sent its sincere congratulations to customs officers on their professional day.

Renato Usatîi in Șoldănești

Renato Usatîi, leader of “Our Party,” met with residents of Șoldănești, discussing problems and presenting his party’s solutions for Moldova’s development.

Wizz Air announcement

Wizz Air announced an expansion of its operations in Moldova and the launch of six new routes to European cities: Hamburg, Turin, Frankfurt-Hahn, Nice, Prague and Copenhagen. Two additional aircraft were also expected to be added to the airline’s Moldovan base. The announcement followed a meeting between Prime Minister Dorin Recean, the administrator of Chișinău International Airport “Eugen Doga,” Sergiu Spoială, and Wizz Air CEO József Váradi.

CEC training

Thirty judges and prosecutors took part in a new professional training session on the examination and resolution of electoral disputes, organized ahead of Moldova’s September 28, 2025 parliamentary elections. The event was organized by the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), in partnership with the National Institute of Justice and the Council of Europe Office in Chișinău.

European Commission decision

The European Commission granted Moldova an additional €18.9 million through the Reform and Growth Facility, reaffirming the European Union’s strong support for the country’s reform process. In view of Moldova’s significant progress in implementing reforms, the EU also called on businesses to invest in Moldova.

Marta Kos’s visit

President Maia Sandu met with European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos, who was on an official visit to Chișinău. Marta Kos also met with Prime Minister Dorin Recean to discuss reforms and the disbursement of €18.9 million by the European Commission through the Reform and Growth Facility. Later, Marta Kos and Dorin Recean visited the Bookfest Chișinău International Book Fair.

Andrei Năstase’s campaign materials

Independent parliamentary candidate Andrei Năstase launched his official campaign leaflet and poster. His central message was “Your Voice in Parliament,” promising authentic and unconditional representation of citizens beyond party interests.

“Moldoveni” Alliance project

The “Moldoveni” Alliance presented its fourth draft law, out of 26 planned initiatives, at the Triumphal Arch. The party proposed a radical administrative reform aimed at reducing bureaucracy, optimizing expenditures and accelerating the country’s economic development.

Meetings with election observation missions

President Maia Sandu met with representatives of international organizations preparing to monitor Moldova’s parliamentary elections: PACE and the European Network of Election Monitoring Organizations (ENEMO). The president drew the observers’ attention to foreign interference aimed at undermining Moldova’s democratic process. Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu and the CEC leadership also met with the PACE pre-election mission delegation.

Igor Dodon’s visits

Igor Dodon, President of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova, met with staff at Municipal Children’s Clinical Hospital No. 1, where he discussed key elements of the Patriotic Bloc’s electoral program, focusing on healthcare projects. He also visited markets in Hîncești and Cărpineni.

MRM announcement

The Respect Moldova Movement (MRM) announced that entrepreneur Angela Gheorghița, recognized among the country’s top five businesswomen and president of a group of companies ranked among Moldova’s ten most profitable businesses, had joined the party.

Verification of the ballot paper

Electoral contestants went to the CEC, where they checked and signed to confirm the accuracy of the contents of the ballot paper for the parliamentary elections.

Firefighters at Parliament

In the afternoon, firefighters from the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations were called to Moldova’s Parliament building on Ștefan cel Mare și Sfânt Boulevard after the fire alarm system was activated and smoke was detected inside. IGSU employees determined that there had been no actual fire; the incident was caused by a short circuit in the uninterruptible power supply unit of an elevator on the technical floor. Everyone inside the building was evacuated. No one was injured.

Searches in northern Moldova

Officers of the National Investigation Inspectorate and the “Fulger” special police brigade, with the support of territorial subdivisions and PCCOCS prosecutors, conducted more than 40 searches in several localities in northern Moldova. The actions were part of a criminal investigation into voter bribery, illegal financing of political parties and money laundering.

Action outside Cahul Court

Representatives of the Republican Party “Heart of Moldova” held a protest outside Cahul Court in support of detained party members. Protesters called on judges to respect the law and release their colleagues, who were being held in custody over criticism of the government. Later, the party leadership announced that the four colleagues had been released.

PRN statement

The National Reunification Platform (PRN) issued a statement regarding the creation of the Unirea Națiunii Bloc. It said the bloc was “the target of constant attacks” from both Russian agents and “useful idiots” who repeated the false claim that the BUN would not pass the electoral threshold.

Journalists at the airport

Several journalists gathered at Chișinău International Airport in the morning to meet former MP Constantin Țuțu upon his return to Moldova from Athens, Greece. The former MP did not arrive.

Ilan Șor’s conference

Ilan Șor, leader of the “Victory” Bloc and convicted in Moldova in the “Bank Fraud” case, appeared in the public sphere again, this time in a video conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Șor briefed the Kremlin leader on the activities of his company A7. Igor Grosu, President of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), later reacted, saying: “Șor reported to him on his destabilization activities in Moldova, the financing of violence, electoral corruption and his criminal network.”
