Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu met today with the Ambassador of Latvia to the Republic of Moldova, Edgars Bondars, during which both sides reaffirmed their openness to strengthening bilateral cooperation and supporting Moldova’s European integration path, TRIBUNA reports.
The discussions focused on expanding economic relations, with particular attention to Latvian investments in information technology and energy. It was noted that improved business‑to‑business contacts are facilitated by the direct Riga–Chișinău flight, as well as by the business forums held in Riga and Chișinău.
The Prime Minister highlighted joint projects aimed at modernizing cybersecurity infrastructure and strengthening crisis management, including Latvia’s support for developing the capacities of the Information Technology and Cybersecurity Service (STISC) through staff training programmes, experience exchange, and methodological assistance for establishing a future national data center.
The officials also emphasized Latvia’s consistent support for Moldova’s European integration. “Latvia’s support for the European integration of the Republic of Moldova is significant, and Latvia’s experience in the EU accession process and post‑accession reforms is a valuable source of expertise for us,” Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu stated.
Both sides noted that Moldova and Latvia will continue institutional cooperation to strengthen public administration capacities, as well as collaboration in countering disinformation and in the fields of education and culture.
