Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi participated in the meeting of the Standing Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), held in Chișinău under the auspices of Moldova’s Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe (CM CoE). The event gathered around 60 parliamentarians from the 46 member states of the organization.
In his speech, Minister Popșoi presented the priorities of Moldova’s Presidency at the CM CoE, a mandate to be exercised between November 14, 2025 and May 16, 2026, and emphasized the need to strengthen interparliamentary cooperation to effectively address common challenges.
“We are living in a moment when defending democracy, human rights, and the rule of law is not only an institutional obligation but also a shared responsibility. Our Presidency of the Committee of Ministers confirms the Republic of Moldova’s commitment to actively contributing to a more united, safer, and more resilient Europe,” stated Minister Mihai Popșoi.
During the Q&A session, the Deputy Prime Minister exchanged views with PACE parliamentarians on current challenges faced by Moldova and member states. Discussions focused on combating disinformation, protecting social rights, and countering hybrid attacks launched by the Russian Federation, including in the context of Moldova’s recent parliamentary elections.
Minister Popșoi also held a meeting with PACE President Theodoros Rousopoulos. The interlocutors discussed recent developments within the Council of Europe and cooperation in the context of Moldova’s Presidency. The Moldovan foreign minister reiterated the country’s firm commitment to fulfilling its obligations as a member state.
