Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi held a meeting with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, TRIBUNA reports.

The discussions focused on developments regarding regional security, bilateral cooperation, and the Republic of Moldova’s support for Ukraine, as well as the two countries’ common European path. The officials also addressed cooperation in the areas of transport, infrastructure, and energy, as well as the management of the hydrological situation in the Dniester River basin.

Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi reaffirmed the Republic of Moldova’s support for Ukraine’s efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace based on respect for Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders.

“Today marks 1,622 days since the Ukrainian people have been defending their country, their freedom, and their children’s future with dignity and courage. Behind this period are lost lives, destroyed communities, and millions of people affected by the unprovoked, illegal war of aggression launched by the Russian Federation. Despite these hardships, Ukraine continues to demonstrate extraordinary resilience. The Republic of Moldova will continue to be a reliable partner of Ukraine and contribute, alongside its partners, to strengthening peace and stability in the region,” Mihai Popșoi emphasized.

During the meeting, the officials discussed the priorities on the European agenda of the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine. In this regard, they praised the cooperation between the two countries and reaffirmed their readiness to continue exchanging experience and best practices to advance the European integration process.

For his part, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked the Republic of Moldova for its continued support for Ukraine and highlighted the importance of continuing joint projects, including in the fields of infrastructure and energy, for the benefit of citizens of both countries.
