The Bloc of Communists and Socialists (BCS) will appeal to the Constitutional Court the law regarding postal voting, informs TRIBUNA.
During the discussions in the plenary session of the Parliament, regarding the draft law on the piloting of voting by mail, Vlad Batrîncea warned the deputies that the Republic of Moldova is under the monitoring of the Council of Europe, is a candidate country for the European Union and committed not to modify the electoral legislation in the election year.
In this context, the president of the BCS fraction expressed dissatisfaction that the parliamentary majority is promoting a project that violates these commitments, violates the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova, even more, “it was not even consulted with the experts of the Venice Commission, although in the last 10 years, all the changes to the Moldovan Electoral Code have always been coordinated with the experts of the Council of Europe and the Venice Commission”.
The Vice-President of the Parliament asked the President of the Legal, Appointments and Immunities Commission, Veronica Roșca, to explain whether the project was presented to the Venice Commission and why the electoral rules change in an election year.
Vlad Bătrîncea emphasized that the BCS fraction will notify the Constitutional Court on the side of this project, taking into account, including the legal arguments of the relevant parliamentary committee.
