The implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova and the European Parliament, as well as the deepening of cooperation between the two institutions, were the main topics discussed during a working visit by the leadership of the Parliament Secretariat to Brussels on 15–16 July, TRIBUNA reports.
The Secretary General of Parliament, Victor Agrici, met with his counterpart at the European Parliament, Alessandro Chiocchetti. During the meeting, Victor Agrici expressed his appreciation for the European Parliament’s consistent support for the Republic of Moldova’s European integration process, emphasizing that this backing is essential for advancing reforms and strengthening state institutions.
“Interparliamentary cooperation is a key component of this partnership. It facilitates the exchange of experience, strengthens democratic institutions, enhances parliamentary oversight, and promotes accountable governance. For candidate countries, it also contributes to aligning national legislation with the European Union acquis and facilitates the implementation of European democratic standards and values,” the Secretary General of Parliament said.
Victor Agrici also referred to the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova and the European Parliament, signed on 18 March 2026, as well as the programme of activities agreed for this year.
“At the parliamentary level, the planned activities will strengthen cooperation between our committees, continue support for the Women Members of Parliament Platform, promote political dialogue through the Jean Monnet Dialogue for Peace and Democracy, implement the ‘Triangle of Democracy’ Programme, and support young parliamentarians from the Republic of Moldova through the ‘Young Parliamentary Leaders’ Programme, with a particular focus on the country’s accession process to the European Union,” the Secretary General of Parliament stated.
