On the occasion of Ukraine’s Independence Day, the Parliament building was illuminated in the colors of the Ukrainian flag — blue and yellow — as a sign of solidarity with the Ukrainian people, TRIBUNA reports.
Marking the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s declaration of independence, Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu addressed a congratulatory message to the Ukrainian people.
“Happy Independence Day, Ukraine! Happy Independence Day, Ukrainians! Like the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine became independent 35 years ago. We know how difficult the path is for a country defending its freedom, sovereignty, and right to decide its own future. For more than four years, Ukrainians have been fighting day after day and defending their country with courage and sacrifice that are difficult to put into words. Through their struggle, they are defending their own security, as well as ours and that of the entire Europe. Good always prevails!” the message reads.
Igor Grosu thanked the Ukrainian people for their lesson in courage and love for their country, reaffirming that the Republic of Moldova will continue to support Ukraine in its just struggle for freedom and territorial integrity.
Today, an exhibition of documentary and photographic materials entitled “Rebirth in Glory and Strength” will be inaugurated at Parliament. It is dedicated to churches and other sites of Ukraine’s sacred heritage that have been destroyed or damaged as a result of the Russian Federation’s military aggression against Ukraine.
The exhibition is organized by the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Moldova, in cooperation with the National Preserve “Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra” and the National Museum of the Revolution of Dignity. It will feature photographs and documentary materials illustrating the scale of the destruction inflicted on Ukraine’s cultural and spiritual heritage.
The events are part of a series of activities organized in the Republic of Moldova to mark the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s declaration of independence and reaffirm Moldova’s support for its neighboring country.
