The European Parliament is calling for the opening of all remaining negotiation clusters with the Republic of Moldova

The European Parliament is calling for the opening of all remaining negotiation clusters with the Republic of Moldova, TRIBUNA reports.

Member of the European Parliament Siegfried Mureșan announced that the European Parliament’s annual report on the Republic of Moldova was adopted by a large majority during the plenary session. The vote result was: 505 in favor, 115 against, and 45 abstentions.

“Following several amendments submitted by myself together with colleagues in the European Parliament, the report calls for the immediate opening of accession negotiations on the remaining negotiation clusters that have not yet been opened.

In this way, we demonstrate the European Parliament’s full support for the European path of the Republic of Moldova.

We, the European Parliament, consider that the Republic of Moldova is a frontrunner in the accession process and that these achievements should be rewarded by accelerating the negotiation process.

The report also condemns the repeated attempts by the Russian Federation to destabilize the Republic of Moldova, including efforts to influence the outcome of democratic elections.

Therefore, we call for increased financial and technical support from the European Union to the Republic of Moldova so that it can become more secure, counter external threats, and continue along its European path.

The European future of the Republic of Moldova is one of the European Parliament’s key priorities, because a secure, stable, and European Union-integrated Moldova is in the interest of the security of all Europe,” the politician stated.
