Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi held a meeting with the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities, Ambassador Christophe Kamp, who is on a working visit to the Republic of Moldova.
The discussions focused on cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the Office of the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities, with particular attention to the protection of the rights of persons belonging to national minorities, multilingual education, and strengthening social cohesion among ethnic communities in the context of Moldova’s EU accession process.
Deputy Prime Minister Popșoi reaffirmed the authorities’ commitment to promoting human rights and building a society based on mutual respect and inclusion, stressing that these principles are fundamental elements of Moldova’s European integration path.
“European integration means strengthening a society in which every citizen feels respected and has equal opportunities to thrive. We will continue investing in education, in promoting cultural and linguistic diversity, and in bringing communities across the country closer together,” Minister Popșoi stated.
During the meeting, both sides highlighted the importance of multilingual education for facilitating the social and economic participation of all citizens, as well as the need to promote the Romanian language while preserving and developing the languages of national minorities. They also welcomed ongoing cooperation on projects dedicated to educational institutions and to fostering dialogue between communities.
High Commissioner Christophe Kamp commended Moldova’s progress in the EU integration process and reaffirmed the OSCE High Commissioner’s Office’s readiness to continue supporting the authorities in its areas of expertise.
