Claudiu Năsui said he had accepted the position of Minister of Economy in the Government of the Republic of Moldova and that he shares Prime Minister Vasile Tofan’s vision, TRIBUNA reports.

“History has shown us repeatedly that wherever respect for private property and the ideas of economic freedom have prevailed, people have prospered. I entered politics almost 10 years ago to promote these principles of liberalism, which have lifted more people out of poverty than any other policies in the world.

I strongly identified with the vision of Mr. Vasile Tofan, the new Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, for this country: for the Republic of Moldova to become the most welcoming country for entrepreneurs. He understands that the state does not solve economic problems; at best, it manages them, and more often than not, it makes them worse when it intervenes in the economy. Wealth and prosperity, before they can be redistributed by the state, must first be created, and the necessary conditions for this are precisely the values of the free market, which have worked wherever they have been applied,” he said.

The prospective minister said that in politics it is easy to make yourself popular, at least as long as you are in power and can choose the easy path of populism funded by taxpayers’ money.

“It is much harder to say that things cannot continue this way indefinitely, because otherwise the bill will condemn the country to stagnation. Prime Minister Tofan could have continued his successful career without disruption, but he chose to take on the difficult task of carrying out the reforms the Republic of Moldova needs to prosper and successfully navigate a turning point in the country’s future: accession to the European Union.

I chose to accept Mr. Tofan’s invitation to join the Government of the Republic of Moldova, even though this step means giving up my mandate as a member of the Romanian Parliament and dedicating my experience to a new reform effort aimed at completing the process of liberalization and privatization that began after the fall of communism.

Prime Minister Tofan has the difficult but honorable mission of leading his country in the right direction: toward freedom and closer ties with Romania and Europe.

I am happy to take on the same mission, with optimism, enthusiasm and the confidence that a more prosperous Moldovan economy also means a more prosperous Romanian economy, on our shared European path,” he added.
