Eugeniu Osmochescu said he had responsibly accepted Prime Minister Vasile Tofan’s proposal to take over the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry.

According to him, agriculture is an essential sector both for the Republic of Moldova and for the legislative harmonization process as part of the country’s European path. It is a complex and extensive chapter.

“I thank Prime Minister Tofan for his trust. It is a complicated mission – to transform agriculture into a modern, technology-driven economic engine, with an emphasis on increasing competitiveness and productivity. I will dedicate all my energy and the economic expertise I have accumulated to this task.

The Common Agricultural Policy is an essential instrument for supporting farmers in the EU, which means that this strategic sector will benefit from financial support and European funds. That is precisely why we must be prepared. We need to increase resilience to climate change, provide targeted and proper financing for the sector, invest for maximum impact and align ourselves with European standards so that we can fully benefit from this financial instrument,” he said.

At the same time, Eugeniu Osmochescu wished Claudiu Năsui success.

“I am fully confident that he will continue and accelerate efforts to reduce bureaucracy, digitalize public services and strengthen openness toward the business community.

I thank the team at the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, with whom I have worked over the past months to simplify regulations, remove bureaucratic barriers and create an environment that encourages entrepreneurship and investment.

We will continue to work as one team with the same goal: a strong economy, a high-performing agricultural sector and a European state,” the minister added.
