A delegation of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova is participating in the Summer Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), taking place on 22–26 June 2026 in Strasbourg, France.
The delegation includes Parliament Vice President Doina Gherman, head of the national delegation to PACE Ion Groza, as well as members Veronica Roșca, Andrian Cheptonar, Natalia Davidovici and Igor Dodon.
The session agenda features debates on current issues, including protecting democracy from disruptions caused by artificial intelligence, combating transnational repression, and the state of democracy, human rights and the rule of law in Iran.
A request has also been submitted for an urgent debate on monitoring the Chișinău Declaration on migration. The document, adopted during the May 2026 annual session of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe under Moldova’s presidency, addresses migration management in relation to the rights guaranteed by the European Convention on Human Rights.
Parliamentarians will additionally examine reports on the silencing of critical voices in Azerbaijan, the functioning of democratic institutions in Georgia and Serbia, press freedom in sports, combating gender stereotypes in the media, violent pornography as a human‑rights challenge, and access to healthcare for migrants and refugees.
The agenda also includes debates on food sustainability in crisis situations, reports on the observation of recent elections in Hungary and Bulgaria, and potential urgent debates on women’s access to justice, the right to education in Gaza, the judiciary in Turkey, and the situation of Jimmy Lai, detained in Hong Kong since 2020.
The Republic of Moldova has been a member of the Council of Europe since 1995.
