The Mayor of Chișinău, Ion Ceban, participated in the Global Mayors Summit in Singapore, TRIBUNA reports.
“It was an honor to speak at the event about Chișinău alongside mayors and representatives of world capitals, including Singapore, Jakarta, Melbourne, Vienna, Berlin, and others.
Chișinău has a vision, and we are developing strategic documents that will form the foundation of the city’s development for many years to come.
One of the most important strategic documents in the entire portfolio is the General Urban Plan, on which we have been working intensively in recent months together with our partners from Romania, as well as local experts.
We intend for the General Urban Plan to have a dynamic approach, adapted to new and advanced technologies, so that it can be adjusted to needs and circumstances at any time.
We want Chișinău’s long-term vision to be harmoniously integrated with the General Urban Plan, the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan, and the Green City Action Plan.
To ensure that we are developing a truly livable city, we are actively integrating ICT solutions and artificial intelligence into this fundamental process,” the mayor stated.
Ion Ceban said that, regarding financing and partnerships, they refuse to wait for perfect conditions and instead choose to act.
“Meanwhile, one of our most important priorities is to find ways to motivate young people, as well as our citizens, to stay at home, considering that the opportunity cost remains low in terms of employment, protection of labor rights, and opportunities for career advancement in certain sectors, while prices and the cost of living have increased several times over in a short period.
The labor market must first and foremost be attractive for our own citizens, through better salaries and favorable conditions, rather than through the forced import of labor and its placement across all sectors.
These objectives must also be coordinated with state-level policies, which today are discriminatory and non-inclusive, causing us to lose specialists who choose to move abroad,” Ion Ceban said.
