Parliament will convene for its second ordinary session of 2026 starting September 1. This is stipulated in an order signed by Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu.

According to the document, MPs will convene in a plenary sitting at the proposal of the Permanent Bureau, once the draft agenda has been finalized.

Under Parliament’s Legislative Program for the current year, the priority of this session will be the alignment of national legislation with that of the European Union. This summer, two clusters of negotiations with the EU were opened — “Fundamentals” and “External Relations.” The other four, covering the internal market, inclusion, the green agenda, and agriculture, are expected to be opened depending on the fulfillment of the necessary criteria and conditions.

According to Parliament’s Rules of Procedure, the legislature holds two ordinary sessions per year. The first session begins in February and may not extend beyond the end of July, while the second begins in September and may not extend beyond the end of December.

Outside ordinary sessions, Parliament may convene in an extraordinary or special session at the request of the President of the Republic of Moldova, the Speaker of Parliament, or one-third of the MPs.
