The results of an accessibility assessment of the websites managed by the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) and the Centre for Continuous Electoral Training (CICDE), focusing on accessibility for people with visual impairments, were presented today during a workshop supported by the INFONET Alliance, TRIBUNA reports.
The analysis, conducted by the organisation Universal Acces, covered all platforms administered by the CEC and CICDE and shows that the information published is largely accessible to users. At the same time, the evaluation identified several technical aspects that can be improved to further facilitate access to public‑interest information for people with visual impairments.
The experts’ recommendations include optimising certain formats used for documents, images, and other online materials, as well as adjustments to text display and visual contrast. Implementing these measures will contribute to a more accessible and user‑friendly digital environment for all users.
The Central Electoral Commission expressed appreciation for the cooperation with civil society organisations and the expertise provided throughout the process, emphasising that accessibility and inclusion remain constant priorities for the institution. The initiative is part of the ongoing efforts of the CEC and CICDE to ensure equal access to information and electoral participation for all individuals, including those with special needs.
The activity is also aligned with the objectives of the Memorandum of Cooperation signed in 2023 between the electoral authority, CICDE, and eight civil society organisations active in protecting the rights of people with special needs.
