During the visit, the Deputy Prime Minister participated as a special guest in the meeting of the Political and Security Committee (PSC) of the Council of the European Union, where he held discussions with representatives of all 27 EU member states. In his intervention, the Moldovan official presented recent developments regarding the Transnistrian region and the dialogue between Chișinău and Tiraspol, as well as the Government’s priorities in promoting reintegration policies and ensuring equal and fair conditions for citizens on both banks of the Nistru, including through the Convergence Fund. Discussions also covered socio‑economic conditions in the region, energy security, freedom of movement, human rights, and the measures taken by the authorities in Chișinău to expand access for residents of the Transnistrian region to public services and opportunities offered by the European integration process. The authorities’ vision and efforts to promote a gradual reintegration of the country through economic development, infrastructure investment, improved living standards, and strengthened social and economic cohesion were also presented.

Ambassadors of EU member states and European officials reconfirmed the European Union’s firm support for the Republic of Moldova’s European path and accession process, commending the efforts of the authorities in Chișinău to advance reforms, strengthen institutional resilience, and promote a gradual approach to the country’s reintegration.

The Deputy Prime Minister also met with Audrone Perkauskiene, the EU Special Representative in the Transnistrian settlement negotiations and Deputy Managing Director for Eastern Europe and Central Asia at the European External Action Service. The interlocutors reaffirmed the importance of maintaining close coordination to support a peaceful and comprehensive settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, in full respect of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova. Discussions also addressed ways to strengthen EU support for confidence‑building measures between the two banks of the Nistru and for projects aimed at improving living conditions for the population.

Additionally, Deputy Prime Minister Valeriu Chiveri held meetings with Simon Mordue, Special Diplomatic Adviser to the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen; Gert Jan Koopman, Director‑General of the Directorate‑General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR); and Peter Wagner, Director of the Service for Foreign Policy Instruments (FPI). The discussions focused on opportunities to further advance reintegration processes between the two banks of the Nistru with the continued support of the European Union.
