The leadership of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) met with a delegation from the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE/ODIHR), led by Jillian Stirk, head of the observation mission for Moldova’s September 2025 parliamentary elections. The discussion focused on the recommendations issued after the 2025 parliamentary elections and on the reforms needed to further strengthen Moldova’s electoral processes, TRIBUNA reports.
CEC representatives presented the main post‑election actions undertaken to evaluate the electoral process and identify improvements to the legal framework and administrative practices. Special attention was given to recommendations concerning:
- candidate registration procedures
- prevention of electoral corruption and misuse of administrative resources
- voting rights for citizens under judicial protection
- accuracy of electoral lists, including continuous data‑quality improvements and interoperability with state registries
The CEC also informed the OSCE/ODIHR delegation that it is currently conducting public consultations on proposed amendments to the Electoral Code and related legislation. These reforms aim to enhance the integrity, transparency, and efficiency of electoral processes. Recommendations from OSCE/ODIHR, other international observation missions, international partners, and relevant stakeholders are being examined and incorporated into the drafting process.
OSCE/ODIHR representatives welcomed the CEC’s openness to dialogue and its systematic approach to addressing recommendations, encouraging Moldova to continue aligning its electoral processes with OSCE commitments and international standards.
The CEC reaffirmed its readiness to maintain dialogue and cooperation with international partners to ensure the continuous improvement of the country’s electoral system.
