The government decision introduces a 60‑day energy alert status as a preventive measure meant to protect Moldova’s energy security and ensure uninterrupted supplies of petroleum products and electricity for the population and the economy.
Main elements of the decision:
- Temporary export conditionalities for petroleum products will be activated only if national stocks fall below safety thresholds, ensuring that domestic needs are met first.
- Prioritisation of domestic electricity consumption during peak hours is introduced to protect the stability of the national power system.
- Replenishment of state reserves is accelerated to strengthen Moldova’s strategic energy buffer.
The alert status is less restrictive than a state of emergency and is designed to prevent disruptions before they occur. Authorities emphasise that fuel and electricity supplies are not and will not be interrupted, and that stocks for the next 30 days are fully secured. The measure aims to maintain stability in a regional context marked by volatility and to ensure that Moldova can respond quickly if external risks intensify.
