Parliament adopts Declaration supporting Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity

Parliament adopted a Declaration reaffirming support for Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, on the occasion of four years since the Russian Federation launched its full‑scale military invasion of Ukraine. The draft resolution, initiated by a group of MPs from the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) parliamentary faction, was approved by 65 MPs, TRIBUNA reports.

The Declaration honors the courage and heroism of the Ukrainian people, who for the fourth consecutive year continue to resist Russia’s illegal, unprovoked, and unjustified military aggression launched on 24 February 2022.

Parliament strongly condemns the criminal actions of the Russian Federation, which continues to violate international law and commit:

  • war crimes and crimes against humanity
  • attacks against civilians
  • acts of torture and sexual violence
  • illegal detentions and executions of prisoners of war
  • illegal deportation and forced displacement of Ukrainian civilians, including children

The initiators call on the international community, national parliaments, and governments to maintain unity, determination, and consistency in supporting Ukraine. They also reaffirm Moldova’s readiness to strengthen inter‑parliamentary cooperation within the regional format Moldova – Ukraine – Romania (the Odesa Triangle).

The authors underline that the accession of both the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine to the European Union carries strategic significance for the stability, security, and sustainable development of the region and of Europe as a whole.
