Parliament is working on updating the rules governing the status, conduct, and ethics of Members of Parliament, including the creation of an Ethics Commission with the participation of civil society and measures to prevent conflicts of interest. The announcement was made by the Speaker of Parliament, Igor Grosu, TRIBUNA reports.
The official took part yesterday in the launch of the Clean Parliament Charter 2025 — an important tool for assessing integrity, transparency, and good governance within the Parliament.
“For this legislature, together with colleagues from Parliament and Government, we aim to improve the legal framework and ensure a more open and fair legislative process.
We are working on updating the rules regarding the status, conduct, and ethics of MPs, including the establishment of an Ethics Commission with civil society participation and the prevention of conflicts of interest.
Starting in February, we will also resume public consultations on modernising the Parliament’s Rules of Procedure,” the head of the Legislature stated.
Igor Grosu welcomed the Clean Parliament Charter 2025 initiative and reaffirmed Parliament’s openness to a sincere and continuous dialogue with civil society, the media, and citizens. Good governance, he stressed, is achieved together and through open and honest dialogue.
