Igor Grosu, Speaker of Parliament, yesterday began his visit to the United States of America (USA) with a series of meetings where he had the opportunity to speak about the enormous progress the Republic of Moldova has made in recent years in its effort to become a true democracy, TRIBUNA reports.
“I met with Congressmen Brian Mast (R-FL), Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Tim Burchett (R-TN), William Keating (D-MA), Ted Lieu (D-CA), Dina Titus (D-NV), as well as Senators Mitch McConnell (R-KY), Thom Tillis (R-NC), Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), Angus King (I-ME), and Mike Rounds (R-SD),” the politician stated.
The official said he spoke about “the reforms we are carrying out at home to ensure that, in 2028, we are ready to submit our application for accession to the European Union.”
“I thanked the American people for all the support we have felt in these years, through concrete projects that help us become a resilient, strong state, capable of defending its citizens. Our country has reliable partners!” Igor Grosu added.
