Citizens and transport operators will benefit from faster, safer, and more comfortable travel through the Fălciu–Cantemir railway border crossing. Moldova’s Minister of Internal Affairs, Daniella Misail-Nichitin, signed in Bucharest, together with Romania’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs, Cătălin Predoiu, the Agreement on implementing coordinated control at this railway point, TRIBUNA reports.
This marks the first time coordinated control is applied at a railway checkpoint and in both directions of travel. The measure will reduce waiting times, eliminate queues, and simplify procedures for citizens and economic operators, supporting cross-border trade and exports. At the same time, the two countries strengthen cooperation to enhance border security.
The reopening of the Fălciu–Cantemir railway checkpoint holds strategic importance, being part of the European Union’s “solidarity corridors” initiative and contributing to Moldova’s connection to the European transport network.
The two ministers also discussed cooperation in the fields of police and border police, agreeing on measures to improve the efficiency of law enforcement authorities in the context of regional security challenges. The signing of this agreement represents an important step in strengthening the partnership between the Republic of Moldova and Romania and bringing citizens closer to the European space.
