Igor Dodon’s meetings
Igor Dodon, leader of the Socialists, began his day at agricultural markets in Strășeni and Ungheni. Later, the politician held electoral meetings with residents of Cornești, Pîrlița, and Ungheni in Ungheni district.
Republic of Moldova Day in Japan
On Romanian Language Day, Prime Minister Dorin Recean inaugurated the Republic of Moldova Day at the World Expo in Osaka, Japan — an important event promoting Moldova’s tourism and investment potential, as well as the country’s culture at the prestigious international event. In his address to the exhibition’s organizers and visitors, the Prime Minister noted that Moldova’s pavilion shared with the world the story of a people proud of its heritage.
Nicușor Dan’s visit
On Romanian Language Day, President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu welcomed Romanian President Nicușor Dan to Chișinău. The officials opened the third edition of the Great National Dictation, held in Great National Assembly Square and attended by approximately 2,000 people. Later, they laid flowers at the bust of poet Mihai Eminescu in Strășeni and attended the opening ceremony of the concert dedicated to Romanian Language Day at the Strășeni House of Culture.
Messages of congratulations
At the Alley of Classics in the “Ștefan cel Mare și Sfânt” Public Garden, the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) party in Moldova marked Romanian Language Day with a solemn ceremony. The “Moldoveni” Alliance and “Viitorul Moldovei” parties sent congratulatory messages to citizens on the occasion of the national holiday “Our Language.”
PAS campaign launches
The Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) launched its electoral campaign in another 13 districts: Dubăsari, Telenești, Orhei, Bălți, Sîngerei, Drochia, Soroca, Șoldănești, Briceni, Edineț, Glodeni, Basarabeasca, and Taraclia. PAS candidates presented their plans for the coming years.
Appointment of Iwona Piórko
Iwona Piórko was appointed Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova. She said she was honored to be appointed to the position.
Ion Ceban’s visit
Ion Ceban, leader of the National Alternative Movement, paid a working visit to Italy. He announced that he had several meetings and events scheduled.
CEC appeal
The Central Electoral Commission reminded everyone of the obligation to comply with the Electoral Code and related legislation, which expressly prohibited clergy from conducting electoral campaigning and religious denominations from engaging in political or electoral activities. In this context, the CEC sent an appeal to ecclesiastical structures, requesting that they discourage and sanction, in accordance with church canons, any acts of political promotion and other actions contrary to Christian teachings and morality.
“Alternativa” Bloc conference
The “Alternativa” electoral bloc developed a Code of Conduct for a fair and civilized electoral campaign, which it proposed to all electoral contestants during a press conference.
