No independent candidate succeeded in entering Parliament following the September 28 elections. However, those who ran independently managed to gather more votes than some political parties or electoral blocs – TRIBUNA reports.
The best-performing independent was Andrei Năstase, who received 0.85% of the vote, amounting to 13,420 ballots. He ranked 6th overall among the 21 electoral contenders, trailing only the five forces that passed the parliamentary threshold and the European Social Democratic Party, which obtained 0.95%.
Olesea Stamate received 0.33% or 5,257 votes, placing her 11th in the final tally.
Victoria Sanduța secured 0.18% or 2,862 votes, ranking 16th.
Tatiana Crețu gathered 0.10% or 1,599 votes, placing 19th, ahead of two political parties that received 1,591 and 1,409 votes, respectively.
It is worth noting that, to date, no independent candidate has ever entered Parliament in the Republic of Moldova.
To enter Parliament, an independent candidate needs at least 2% of the vote.
