The Central Electoral Commission (CEC), at its meeting yesterday, approved several decisions concerning the regional elections scheduled for November 15, 2026, TRIBUNA reports.
The Commission approved the Regulations on the nomination and registration of candidates for elections to the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia and for the position of Governor (Bashkan) of Gagauzia. The documents establish the conditions for nominating candidates, as well as the procedure for preparing, submitting and verifying the documents required to register candidates nominated by political parties and electoral blocs, as well as independent candidates and initiative groups.
During the meeting, the Central Electoral Council of Gagauzia (CECG) was established with 15 members. Svetlana Colesnic was appointed interim chairperson of the Council. The Council will hold its first meeting by September 19, 2026. The CECG will establish single-member electoral constituencies by September 21, 2026; first-level constituency electoral councils by September 26, 2026; polling stations by October 11, 2026; and polling-station electoral bureaus by October 21, 2026.
The Commission also established a general ceiling of 36,144.09 lei that may be transferred to the account designated for an “initiative group” to support a candidate for the position of Governor (Bashkan) of Gagauzia. A total of 3,122,416.28 lei may be transferred to and used from the “Electoral Fund” account by electoral contestants during the elections for the position of Governor (Bashkan) of Gagauzia. The amount of the interest-free loan for these elections was set at 50,000 lei for each political party and electoral bloc, and 10,000 lei for each independent candidate.
The CEC deemed the dissemination of political and electoral advertising on fixed or mobile advertising devices admissible, based on declarations of intent and information regarding the conditions for providing advertising space during the electoral period:
- For the elections to the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia, according to declarations submitted by the following advertising distributors: AQUARELLE S.R.L., “INDEPENDENT MEDIA” S.R.L., TRENDSETER S.R.L., S.R.L. STANDART, and CASSIDAS S.R.L.;
- For the election of the Governor (Bashkan) of Gagauzia, according to declarations submitted by the following advertising distributors: TRENDSETER S.R.L., AQUARELLE S.R.L., CASSIDAS S.R.L., “INDEPENDENT MEDIA” S.R.L., and B.M. Public S.R.L.
The CEC cautions that any other advertising distributors/broadcasters who own or manage fixed or mobile advertising devices, other than those listed above, are not entitled to disseminate political, pre-electoral or electoral advertising during the electoral period of the regional elections scheduled for November 15, 2026.
