Andrei Năstase, former MP and civic activist, recalled the large-scale protest held on September 6, 2015, when thousands of people gathered in the central square to defend their right to a better future, reports TRIBUNA.

Eleven years have passed. How many of them are still here today? How many have left? How many have grown tired of hoping?

Revolutions are made by romantics: people who believe in ideals and have the courage to change the world. Then the scoundrels come. They claim the victory for themselves, take positions of power and turn the sacrifices of others into their own privileges. The romantics are left with the ideals. The scoundrels — with the fruits of the revolution,” the politician wrote on social media.

He stressed that in 2015, citizens rose up against the oligarchic system, but 11 years later, the question remains: what has actually changed?

“The billion has not been recovered, and the thefts have not stopped. Citizens continue to pay for past and present thefts. The bitterest betrayal begins when those who came to power in the name of change become like those against whom people rebelled. Is this what we wanted? Or do we still have the strength to hold them accountable and not give up?” Andrei Năstase said.
