The President of the Republic of Moldova, Igor Dodon, today, on the occasion of the International Remembrance day of Holocaust Victims participated in the ceremony of commemoration the 6 million Jews exterminated during the Second World War, of which 350,000 on the territory of Moldova, TRIBUNA informs.
“74 years ago, the Soviet armies released the Auschwitz concentration camp, where the Nazis cruelly exterminated millions of people, and the day of 27 January, was declared the International Holocaust Remembrance Day by the United Nations decision. Respecting memory, we must look to the future. The crimes like holocaust should not be repeated. It is our common duty and, without exaggeration, is the most important and current task of the world community. We are obliged to keep these threats under control. Let’s defend together peace and freedom of people, the right of the state and the peoples to their own development, “Dodon said.
According to a press release of the Presidency, Dodon reminded that during his visit to the State of Israel in December 2018, he received numerous addresses from the Moldovan Jews who asked to contribute to the restoration of the territory of the Jewish cemetery in Balti.
It was also mentioned that the Administration of the President will give full support to the construction of the Jewish History Museum in Moldova.
At the same time, according to the same press release, as President of the country, Dodon will soon present several legislative initiatives on the final ban on the propaganda of fascism in Moldova and punishing those who promote these ideas.
