The Republic of Moldova has officially opened accession negotiations for Cluster 6 – External Relations during the third Moldova–EU Intergovernmental Conference, TRIBUNA reports.
“This is further confirmation that we are moving forward on our path to the European Union through reforms and tangible results, with the support and confidence of all 27 Member States. Together, we are building a stronger and safer Moldova and a stronger and safer Europe,” said Cristina Gherasimov.
According to Deputy Prime Minister Gherasimov, the opening of this cluster means that the Republic of Moldova will continue aligning its policies in areas such as foreign affairs, security, defence, and external trade with those of the European Union.
“Moldova and the EU are already working together to counter hybrid attacks and disinformation, protect our borders, and strengthen the country’s resilience,” Cristina Gherasimov noted.
Participation in the European Union’s Common Commercial Policy will give Moldovan companies access to the world’s largest network of trade agreements, creating more opportunities for investment, employment, and exports. For citizens, this will mean greater economic opportunities after accession and a country that is better prepared to respond to today’s challenges.
The deputy prime minister also thanked the Irish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the European Commission, and all EU Member States for the trust and support they continue to extend to the Republic of Moldova.
