A delegation from the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) and the Center for Continuous Training in the Electoral Field, led by CEC Secretary Dana Munteanu, participated in the International Visitors Program organized in Stockholm by the Swedish Election Authority (Valmyndigheten), in the context of the national elections in the Kingdom of Sweden, TRIBUNA reports.

The program brought together representatives of electoral management bodies from several countries and aimed to familiarize participants with Sweden’s electoral system, election administration mechanisms, and procedures applied during the elections. The agenda included presentations by the Swedish Election Authority and the Swedish Psychological Defence Agency, addressing issues related to the organization of the electoral process and safeguarding its integrity.

The CEC delegation had the opportunity to directly observe the implementation of several electoral procedures. Representatives of the Commission visited an early voting station, learned about the work of the Stockholm Election Committee, and observed the operation of a polling station where a digital electoral register was used.

The program also included a visit to the Riksdag, the Swedish Parliament, as well as observation of the work of vote-counting centers on election night.

As part of the visit, CEC representatives also participated in an experience-sharing session among representatives of electoral management bodies, hosted by International IDEA in Stockholm. Discussions focused on current challenges faced by electoral administrations, including the resolution of electoral disputes, ensuring the independence of electoral management bodies, and protecting electoral institutions, their members, and election officials both online and offline.

Participation in the international election observation program in Sweden provided the CEC delegation with a valuable opportunity to study different approaches to organizing and conducting electoral processes and to identify best practices that could contribute to the development and increased efficiency of electoral processes in Moldova.

It should be noted that on Sunday, September 13, 2026, Sweden held elections for the Riksdag (Parliament of Sweden). Regional and municipal council elections were also held on the same day.
