Ion Ceban: Number of Students in Chisinau Surpasses 110,000. “It’s a Figure That Makes Us Happy, but It Also Reflects the Sad Reality in the Country”

Chisinau Mayor General Ion Ceban says the number of students in the capital has surpassed 110,000. According to the mayor, the figure is encouraging, but it also reflects the sad reality in the country, TRIBUNA reports.

“They have locked up hundreds of schools and mayoralties, forcing tens of thousands of families to move to the capital or leave the country.

When you lock up a school, you condemn the entire community to disappear,” he said.

At the same time, Ion Ceban emphasized that while the government is closing and destroying, the Chisinau municipality is opening, renovating, and building kindergartens and schools.

“We invest in every child, create new places, and provide services that are unique in the country: a three-hour extended-day program after classes, financial assistance and free meals for approximately 5,500 children from vulnerable families, free transportation for children in grades I–IV, as well as many other extracurricular programs,” the mayor concluded.
