Ion Ceban, the mayor of the capital and leader of the National Alternative Movement party, stated that he intends to challenge the decision issued against him by the Romanian court of first instance and will go through all judicial levels to seek justice, TRIBUNA reports.
“I have taken note of the decision of the Romanian court of first instance regarding my lawsuit against that country’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.
As for any statements made previously or now with the aim of discrediting me — including by politicians and ministers who claim they enjoy immunity under the law, are protected in this regard, and feel free to say whatever they want — I would simply remind them that such immunity does not last a lifetime.
From now on, I will act strictly in accordance with the provisions of Romania’s national legislation and international law,” he said.
The mayor stressed that the decision to ban him from entering Romania was purely political and was taken two months before the start of the parliamentary election campaign in the Republic of Moldova, something he had already stated earlier.
“That is why I will appeal to all courts, because I know the truth is on my side.
To this day, I have not been provided with a single document or official act that would justify or form the basis of this political decision taken against me,” the mayor emphasized.
