TRIBUNA continues its project presenting political events that took place exactly one year ago. This time, we invite you to recall what happened on August 30, 2025.

PLDM’s request

The Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM) submitted a request to the Central Electoral Commission calling for the implementation of the decision of the Central Chișinău Court of Appeal of August 28, 2025, and for the party to be included on the list of political parties participating in the parliamentary elections.

SCJ decision

The Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ) issued a final decision annulling the decision of the Central Court of Appeal and rejecting the lawsuit filed by the “Moldova Mare” Party against the Central Electoral Commission.

Jānis Mažeiks left

The European Union Ambassador to Chișinău, Jānis Mažeiks, completed his diplomatic mission and delivered a message at the end of his term. The official posted a photo from Chișinău International Airport.

Andrei Năstase launches campaign

Independent parliamentary candidate Andrei Năstase launched his electoral campaign in his native village of Mândrești, Telenești district. The politician expressed gratitude for the discussions he had held and for the support of his fellow villagers. On his way to Mândrești, he also met with citizens in Orhei.

AUR launches electoral campaign

The Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) in the Republic of Moldova officially launched its campaign for the parliamentary elections. The event took place in the Ion and Doina Aldea-Teodorovici Square in Chișinău — described as a symbolic place of sacrifice and songs that became prayers for freedom and union. The launch began with the national anthems of Moldova and Romania.

CEC meeting

At its meeting, the Central Electoral Commission amended four previous decisions concerning the registration of candidate lists submitted by three political parties and one electoral bloc. The Commission also registered independent candidate Andrei Năstase’s electoral symbol for printing on the ballot paper for the parliamentary elections.

Another CEC decision concerned changes to the membership of an electoral district council. On the same day, the Commission warned advertising distributors, owners or managers of fixed and mobile advertising structures, as well as political actors, that only electoral advertising was permitted during the campaign, while political advertising was prohibited.

CUB launches electoral campaign

At the square in front of the “Mihai Eminescu” Theatre in Chișinău, the Coalition for Unity and Welfare (CUB) officially launched its campaign for the parliamentary elections. The event solemnly opened with the national anthem of the Republic of Moldova and concluded with the CUB party anthem.

PSDE enters the electoral race

The European Social Democratic Party (PSDE) officially launched its campaign for the parliamentary elections. The event, attended by more than 1,000 party members and supporters from all districts of the country, took place at the Palace of the Republic. PSDE entered the electoral race under the slogan “Building the Future at Home.”

Igor Dodon’s meetings

Igor Dodon, leader of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova, held a series of electoral meetings with citizens in Constantinovca, Copanca, Brezoaia and Semionovca. He also congratulated Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko on his birthday.

PAS launches campaign in 20 districts

The Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) launched its electoral campaign in 20 districts: Nisporeni, Criuleni, Strășeni, Fălești, Ungheni, Călărași, Hîncești, Florești, Rezina, Dondușeni, Ocnița, Rîșcani, Anenii Noi, Căușeni, Ștefan Vodă, Ialoveni, Cahul, Cantemir, Leova and Cimișlia.

PAS candidates for Parliament travelled to the country’s districts, where they presented their electoral programme and spoke with citizens about the government’s actions over the previous years, its achievements, as well as its failures.

BUN launches campaign

The electoral bloc “Blocul Unirii Națiunii — BUN” officially launched its electoral campaign on the fountain steps in Valea Morilor Park in Chișinău. The location was chosen deliberately: the bloc’s leaders had been denied access to the Union Hall in the former premises of the Sfatul Țării, where, on March 27, 1918, the Declaration of the Union of Bessarabia with Romania was adopted.

Ion Ceban’s announcement

Ion Ceban, one of the leaders of the “Alternativa” bloc, announced on the second day of the parliamentary election campaign that he was launching an appeal to all electoral contestants to comply with a code of conduct.

The initiative was based on both international and national recommendations and practices and aimed to prevent manipulation, hate speech and calls for division.
