Diana Caraman is the new President of the PCRM, while Vladimir Voronin becomes Honorary President

Today in Chișinău, the 11th Congress of the Party of Communists of the Republic of Moldova (PCRM) took place, bringing together 254 delegates from all territorial organizations of the party, TRIBUNA reports.

During the Congress, delegates presented and debated the reports of the Central Committee and the Central Revision Commission for the 2021–2026 period. In his report, PCRM leader Vladimir Voronin reviewed the party’s activity in recent years, as well as the socio‑economic and political situation in the Republic of Moldova.

Participants discussed the need to protect Moldova’s statehood, ensure respect for citizens’ constitutional rights, overcome the socio‑economic crisis, and restore public trust in state institutions.

One of the main topics of the Congress was the approval of a new edition of the PCRM Program. The report on the programmatic changes was presented by Konstantin Starîș, who emphasized that the political, economic and social transformations of the past two decades require an updated set of objectives and priorities for the party.

Delegates also approved amendments and additions to the party’s Statute, presented by Diana Caraman. One of the most significant decisions was the introduction of the position of Honorary President.

In recognition of his contribution to the founding and development of the PCRM, delegates unanimously elected Vladimir Voronin as the party’s Honorary President.

The Congress also elected a new composition of the Central Committee and the Central Revision Commission. Subsequently, during the first plenary session of the new Central Committee, Diana Caraman was elected President of the PCRM.

Constantin Starîș and Vladimir Telnov were elected as Secretaries of the Central Committee.

At the end of the Congress, participants adopted an appeal to the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, calling for unity, solidarity, the defense of social and civil rights, the preservation of neutrality, and the strengthening of the country’s statehood.

According to the PCRM, the decisions adopted at the 11th Congress mark a new stage in the party’s development, combining the experience accumulated over the years with the involvement of a new generation of political leaders.
