The Speaker of Parliament, Igor Grosu, will participate in the Conference of Speakers of European Union Parliaments, which will take place from May 3 to 5 in Copenhagen, hosted by the Parliament of Denmark.
The meeting will address key challenges facing European states, including security and the enlargement of the European Union, democratic resilience, and hybrid threats. Discussions will also focus on how EU member state parliaments can support candidate countries.
On the sidelines of the event, Igor Grosu is scheduled to meet with several European counterparts, including the President of the Senate of Belgium, Vincent Blondel, the Speaker of the Parliament of Albania, Niko Peleshi, the President of the National Assembly of Slovenia, Zoran Stevanović, the Speaker of the National Council of Slovakia, Richard Raši, and the Marshal of the Sejm of Poland, Włodzimierz Czarzasty.
Traditionally, the Speaker of Parliament will also meet with members of the Moldovan diaspora to discuss with citizens living in Denmark the realities in the Republic of Moldova, the country’s development priorities, its European path, and the steps taken in the EU accession process.
The agenda also includes a visit to the Danish Emergency Management Agency, offering an opportunity to learn best practices in the field.
The Conference of Speakers of European Union Parliaments is a platform for dialogue, exchange of opinions, information, and experience regarding the role and responsibilities of national parliaments within the European framework, as well as instruments for interparliamentary cooperation in EU affairs. The event gathers speakers of parliaments from EU member states, the President of the European Parliament, speakers from candidate countries, and representatives of partner states.
