Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu has stated that the local public administration reform is not being implemented in the interests of the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS). He stressed that it is a difficult reform that carries political costs, TRIBUNA reports.
“I respect the opposition’s right to criticize reforms. That is the essence of democracy. However, when it comes to the voluntary amalgamation of localities, instead of offering solutions, the opposition traveled from village to village spreading falsehoods. They claimed there would be no financial incentives. That is simply not true. The first incentive payments have already been made,” the Parliament Speaker said.
Grosu emphasized that the main objective of the reform is to improve the efficiency of local administrations.
“This reform is not being carried out for the benefit of PAS. On the contrary, we understand that it is a difficult reform that comes with political costs. But it is our duty to help build stronger local communities, more efficient local administrations, and improve the quality of public services provided to citizens. Constructive criticism is welcome. Lies are not. That is why I call on everyone to stop spreading falsehoods and manipulation,” the PAS leader stated.
