At the swearing‑in ceremony of the new Prosecutor General, Alexandru Machidon, President Maia Sandu outlined the key priorities the Prosecutor’s Office must address — from combating corruption and drug, arms, and human trafficking to emerging threats such as financial and cybercrime, including interference in Moldova’s democratic processes.
The head of state reiterated that the greatest risk to Moldova’s European integration continues to be the country’s ability to build a genuine rule‑of‑law system that serves only the interests of citizens and the state.
“I assured the Prosecutor General of my full support in fulfilling this fundamental mission,” the President stated.
She emphasized that the institution’s recent progress must be consolidated and expanded through new, tangible results in order to restore public trust in both the Prosecutor’s Office and the justice system as a whole.
