Maia Sandu’s Meeting with the Diaspora
President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu met in Potsdam, Germany, with Moldovans from the diaspora who are actively involved in the life of their communities. The head of state emphasized the importance of citizens’ unity and involvement, regardless of where they live, in the process of building a European future for the Republic of Moldova.
“Moldovans” Alliance Project
The “Moldovans” Alliance presented a draft law aimed at putting an end to abuses by state authorities and creating fair rules of the game for citizens and businesses.
CEC Decisions
At its meeting, the Central Electoral Commission examined and rejected complaints filed by the “Our Party,” Olesea Stamate, an independent candidate for the position of MP in the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, and the Moldovan National Party. The complaints concerned alleged violations of electoral legislation related to Alexei Buzu’s participation in electoral campaigning without being suspended from office and in support of the Party of Action and Solidarity, an electoral contestant.
The CEC also amended the list of persons of trust registered by “Our Party”; accredited 37 people from the Promo-LEX Public Association as national observers; and published the list of political parties entitled to participate in the new local elections scheduled for November 16, 2024.
Socialists — in Cahul
Socialist Party leader and co-chairman of the Patriotic Bloc Igor Dodon, together with PSRM MP Bogdan Țîrdea, held electoral meetings in Cahul District.
Prime Minister Attends Anniversary Event
Prime Minister Dorin Recean attended the opening of the anniversary congress of the Society of Anesthesiology and Resuscitation, marking 50 years since its establishment. The event brought together more than 400 participants and over 60 international speakers from Romania, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Türkiye, Israel, and Ukraine.
Concert at Parliament
On the evening of the day, the square in front of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova hosted the gala concert of the third edition of the national patriotic music festival and competition “Te cânt, Patrie și Neam” (“I Sing to You, Homeland and Nation”). The event also marked the opening of a series of activities held as part of Parliamentary Open Week, providing a cultural and symbolic setting for reaffirming unity and democratic values.
“Alternativa” Bloc Event
The “Alternativa” Electoral Bloc held an electoral event under the slogan “ALTERNATIVA is!”, bringing together candidates for Parliament, as well as dozens of supporters and members of the political formations within the bloc. The bloc’s leaders delivered mobilizing messages to citizens, stressing that the Republic of Moldova needed unity, concrete results, and justice for all.
Appeal to the Authorities
Lucian Rogac, Vlad Plahotniuc’s lawyer, appealed to the state institutions responsible for Plahotniuc’s extradition, urging them to closely monitor the entire process and take all necessary security measures for the former Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM) leader’s return to the country. He said he had received signals that several provocations were allegedly being prepared.
