Former Prime Minister Vlad Filat, leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova, announced that on 15 January 2026, Interpol cancelled the international search notice previously issued in his name. The decision was taken at the request of the institution that had originally sought the issuance of the notice, TRIBUNA reports.
“Justice, even if it sometimes needs time, always finds its place.
To those who rushed to speculate, celebrate, and spread negative information, I remind you that public responsibility requires balance and patience. I expect the same promptness in correctly informing citizens about this clarification as there was in spreading accusations.
I thank all those who showed trust and patience, waiting for facts and official positions,” the politician stated.
The former prime minister reiterated “with full responsibility: I am in the Republic of Moldova. I have not evaded or hidden at any time. I have informed the competent institutions about my whereabouts and have shown full openness to cooperation, in the spirit of the law and respect for state institutions.”
“It is regrettable when international instruments or mechanisms come to be perceived as part of internal political confrontations. Institutions, whether national or international, must remain independent, credible, and protected from any political influence.
I will continue my activity with the same dignity, responsibility, and respect for people. I believe in the rule of law, in the supremacy of the law, and in everyone’s right to freely express their opinions,” he added.
