74,500 Moldovan citizens residing in the Transnistrian region are medically insured on the right bank of the Nistru

According to data provided by the National Health Insurance Company, as of 31 December 2025, the Information System for Mandatory Health Insurance (AOAM) registered 74,500 citizens of the Republic of Moldova residing in the Transnistrian region, TRIBUNA reports, citing the Bureau for Reintegration Policies.

Of these, 61,851 individuals were insured by the Government, including 36,252 children under the age of 18. Another 2,582 individuals paid the health insurance premium independently, while 10,067 people were employed by entities registered in the State Register of the Republic of Moldova.

By the end of 2025, family doctors providing primary healthcare within the AOAM system had 50,421 residents of the Transnistrian region listed with them. Among these, 29,060 were insured persons, while 21,361 were uninsured.

Between 1 January and 31 December 2025, according to data from the “ePrescription for reimbursed medicines and medical devices” system, 8,283 individuals from the eastern districts of the Republic of Moldova benefited from compensated medical items, with total payments from AOAM funds amounting to 23.15 million lei.

According to the structure of expenditures for reimbursed medicines and medical devices, the most requested items were medications used to treat chronic conditions with a major impact on public health, particularly cardiovascular diseases and diabetes.

In 2025, 63 hospital service providers treated 6,456 cases, with a total allocated budget of 119.48 million lei. Notably, special treatment programs covered interventional cardiology, locomotor system prosthetics, endovascular surgery, implants, and other interventions — all financed from AOAM funds.
