During the meeting, the officials discussed developments in the existing dialogue platforms for settling the Transnistrian conflict, the regional situation, and measures taken by the Moldovan authorities to address pressing issues affecting residents on both banks of the Dniester River.
The discussions also focused on progress in promoting policies aimed at the gradual reintegration of the country. Particular attention was given to government efforts to gradually integrate businesses operating in the eastern districts of Moldova into the country’s unified fiscal and customs framework.
The role of the Convergence Fund was also highlighted. The mechanism is designed to provide additional support for delivering public services to citizens of the Republic of Moldova residing in the Transnistrian region.
Another key topic was the concerning human rights situation in the region. The participants drew attention to reported abuses, including restrictions on students’ access to education in Romanian-language schools, as well as artificial obstacles to the free movement of people.
For their part, the ambassadors of France, Germany and Poland reaffirmed their firm support for a peaceful and comprehensive settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, based on respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova within its internationally recognised borders.
