Citizens’ safety at home, in public spaces, and online will be enhanced. Today, the Government approved the Public Order and Security Program for 2026–2030, TRIBUNA reports.
The Program foresees reducing the response time to 112 emergency calls from 32 to 15 minutes and increasing the number of patrol teams, especially in rural areas. Another objective concerns reorganizing the police by regions to reduce administrative costs and improve the presence of crews in communities. In addition, public order structures will be equipped with modern tools and trained for rapid and professional interventions, including in crisis situations.
Minister of Internal Affairs Daniella Misail-Nichitin stated:
“Every citizen must feel protected regardless of the region they live in. Police activity will be closer to the community, and investments in digitalization and interoperability will allow better coordination among authorities.”
The document emphasizes respect for human rights, protection of vulnerable groups, and combating violence. Women, children, the elderly, and persons with disabilities will benefit from dedicated protection and support measures.
A novelty of the Program is the inclusion of current areas such as digital safety, protection of critical infrastructure, and combating hate speech online.
This is the fifth program approved by the Government as part of implementing the Development Strategy of Internal Affairs for 2022–2030.
