Romania’s support for Moldova’s European path, joint projects that bring tangible benefits to citizens, and new opportunities for cooperation between Chișinău and Bucharest were discussed during the meeting between Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu and the President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, reports TRIBUNA.
“The Republic of Moldova and Romania share a special relationship, rooted in the indivisible bond between people on both sides of the Prut River. Romania has always stood by us, offering confidence and support on our European journey. We have a clear agenda for the next 10 years and a shared commitment to turn citizens’ expectations on both sides of the Prut into concrete results,” said Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu.
The head of government thanked Romania for its support across all dimensions, highlighting the potential to expand bilateral projects in the fields of economy, education, and shared infrastructure. By 2027, the bridges at Sculeni-Sculeni, Cahul-Oancea, and Leușeni-Albița are set to be modernized. Construction is underway on the Ungheni-Ungheni bridge, and preparations are accelerating for four additional new bridges over the Prut: Costești-Stânca, Leova-Bumbăta, Leca-Fălciu, and Bărboieni-Răducăneni.
The officials also emphasized the importance of energy connectivity projects — the high-voltage power line between Chișinău and Vulcănești is expected to be completed by the end of this year, with two more connections planned in the coming years: Bălți-Suceava and Strășeni-Gutinaș.
